Why credit card CSVs need special handling

Card companies don't agree on signs. American Express and some others list charges as positive numbers and payments as negatives, while others do the opposite or split them into separate debit and credit columns. QuickBooks expects charges to reduce what you have and payments to increase it, so a file with the wrong convention imports every purchase as a refund.

This converter looks at your file, and when most amounts are positive it reverses the signs for you. The preview shows charges in red before you download, so you can check the result at a glance.

Questions

Which credit cards does it work with?

Any card that lets you download transactions as CSV, including American Express, Chase, Capital One, Citi, Discover, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, US Bank and store or business cards.

My charges came in as payments. How do I fix it?

Check "Reverse signs" before downloading, and the preview will show charges in red. Then download the file again and import the new one.

Should I import into a bank account or a credit card account?

Always a credit card account. QuickBooks won't let you import a credit card QBO file into a checking account, and the balances would be wrong if it did.

Is my data safe?

Your file is read and converted inside your own browser. It is never uploaded to a server, so nobody else can see your transactions.

Is it free?

Yes. Convert as many card statements as you need, with no sign-up.
