  • Free, no sign-up
  • Your file never leaves your computer
  • Standard OFX format
Converted in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. No file handy?

How to import the OFX file

  • XeroGo to Accounting, Bank accounts, choose the account, then Manage account, Import a statement.
  • GnuCashGo to File, Import, Import OFX/QFX, and match the account.
  • YNABOpen the account and choose Import, then select the .ofx file.
  • QuickBooksUse a QBO file instead. The CSV to QBO converter makes one from the same CSV.

Why OFX instead of CSV?

When you import a CSV, most apps make you match columns and fix date formats every time. An OFX file already says which value is the date, the payee and the amount, what kind of account it is, and gives every transaction an ID, so the app can import it in one step and skip anything it has seen before.

Questions

What is an OFX file?

OFX, or Open Financial Exchange, is the standard format banks use to send transaction data to finance software.

Which apps accept OFX?

Many accounting and budgeting apps, including Xero, GnuCash and YNAB. Check your app's import options for OFX.

What's the difference between OFX, QFX and QBO?

They're the same format with small additions: QFX adds a Quicken ID and QBO adds a QuickBooks ID. For those apps, use CSV to QFX or CSV to QBO.

Will importing twice create duplicates?

Each transaction gets a stable ID, so apps that check IDs will skip ones already imported.

Is my data safe?

Your file is read and converted inside your own browser. It is never uploaded to a server, so nobody else can see your transactions.
