Convert QBO to Excel

Turn a QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo) file into an Excel workbook with real dates, formatted amounts and filters ready to use. OFX and QFX files work too.

  • Free, no sign-up
  • Your file never leaves your computer
  • Real Excel file, not just CSV
Converted in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. No file handy?

A workbook that's ready to use

The download is a real .xlsx file, not a CSV renamed. Dates are stored as Excel dates so they sort and filter correctly, amounts are formatted with two decimals and negatives in red, columns are sized to fit, and filters are switched on in the header row. It opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers and LibreOffice.

When to use it

Use it to review a bank download before importing it into QuickBooks, reconcile a month of transactions, total spending by vendor with a pivot table, or hand a clean file to your accountant or lender.

Questions

How do I open a QBO file in Excel?

Excel can't open QBO files directly. Drop the file here and download the Excel version, which opens like any other spreadsheet.

Does it work with Google Sheets?

Yes. Upload the .xlsx file to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets. Dates and number formats carry over.

Does it work with OFX and QFX files?

Yes. QBO, OFX and QFX files all convert to Excel the same way, and there's a dedicated OFX to Excel page too.

Can I get separate debit and credit columns?

Yes. Choose "Separate debit and credit columns" before downloading.

Is my data safe?

Your file is read and converted inside your own browser. It is never uploaded to a server, so nobody else can see your transactions.
